The International Rehabilitation Summit Awards recognise outstanding people, presentations, products, ideas and initiatives that are helping shape the future of rehabilitation.

What they cover

The awards celebrate excellence across the entire rehabilitation community, from scientific research and clinical practice to lived experience, technology, industry, policy and measurable impact in practice.

Award recipients will be selected by independent multidisciplinary juries through a transparent evaluation process. Detailed information on eligibility, nominations, selection procedures and deadlines will be announced shortly.

  1. Best Poster Presentation

    Considered automatically

    Recognition
    An outstanding poster combining high-quality content with clear, engaging and visually effective communication.
    Selection
    All accepted poster presentations will be considered automatically.
  2. Best Oral Presentation

    Considered automatically

    Recognition
    An exceptional oral presentation distinguished by the quality and relevance of its content, the clarity of its delivery and its contribution to discussion and knowledge exchange.
    Selection
    All accepted oral presentations will be considered automatically.
  3. Best Booth Award

    Evaluated at the Summit

    Recognition
    The most engaging, informative and accessible exhibition booth, with particular attention to interaction, creativity and its contribution to the overall Summit experience.
    Selection
    All eligible exhibitors will be evaluated during the Summit.
  4. Promising Research Career Award

    Indicate eligibility

    Recognition
    A promising researcher who demonstrates exceptional potential to contribute to the future of rehabilitation.
    Selection
    Eligible candidates may indicate that they wish to be considered during the abstract submission or application process.
  5. Technology and Innovation Award

    Separate application

    Recognition
    A promising technology, prototype, research project or innovative approach with the potential to improve rehabilitation practice, participation, accessibility or outcomes.
    Selection
    Candidates will be invited to submit a separate application or indicate their eligibility through the relevant Summit submission process.
  6. Innovative Product Award

    Separate application

    Recognition
    A product, service or practical solution that responds to a clearly identified rehabilitation need and demonstrates usability, relevance and strong implementation potential.
    Selection
    Eligible organisations or developers will be invited to submit a separate application.
  7. Policy Award

    By nomination

    Recognition
    An individual, organisation or policy initiative that has contributed to stronger, more inclusive and more effective rehabilitation policies or systems.
    Selection
    Candidates or initiatives may be nominated by individuals or organisations.
  8. Persons with Lived Experience Award

    By nomination

    Recognition
    An individual or initiative demonstrating outstanding leadership by persons with lived experience and strengthening their meaningful participation in rehabilitation research, practice, innovation or decision-making.
    Selection
    Candidates or initiatives may be nominated by individuals or organisations.
  9. Lifetime Achievement Award

    By nomination

    Recognition
    An individual whose sustained and distinguished contribution has had a lasting influence on rehabilitation at national or international level.
    Selection
    Candidates must be nominated by another individual or organisation.
    Announcement
    The ceremony at which this award is announced is still being decided.
  10. Impact Creation Award

    Separate application

    Recognition
    A project, partnership or initiative that has translated knowledge, ideas or innovation into demonstrable and meaningful real-world impact.
    Selection
    Eligible projects, partnerships and initiatives will be invited to submit a separate application.

How to Nominate or Apply

The nomination and application process depends on the award category:

  1. Accepted poster and oral presentations will be considered automatically.

  2. Candidates for selected awards may be asked to indicate their eligibility during the abstract submission process.

  3. Innovation, product and impact awards may require a separate application.

  4. Policy, lived experience and lifetime achievement awards will be based on nominations by individuals or organisations.

  5. Eligible exhibitors will be evaluated for the Best Booth Award during the Summit.

Each nomination or application should include a short supporting statement and relevant evidence of the candidate’s achievements, contribution or impact.

Detailed eligibility requirements, nomination procedures and submission deadlines will be published shortly.

Award Criteria

The criteria and their weighting will vary by award category. Evaluations may consider:

  • relevance to rehabilitation;
  • quality, credibility and excellence;
  • originality and innovation;
  • involvement of persons with lived experience and other stakeholders;
  • accessibility, inclusion and equity;
  • demonstrated or potential impact;
  • sustainability and scalability;
  • clarity and quality of communication;
  • ethical practice and transparency.

Independent juries

Nominations and applications will be reviewed by independent juries with appropriate expertise. All conflicts of interest will be declared and managed throughout the evaluation and selection process.
